the second year in a row, The Counter Burger restaurant will be
donating 20% of the day's proceeds to scholarships at Big Shoulders.
Please stop by this coming Tuesday and enjoy a delicious lunch or
dinner (or both!) all while giving back to the 93 schools and 25,000
children we serve. See below for details:

Kelly Scholarship
I
am happy to report the creation of a new renewable scholarship program
at Big Shoulders Fund by Christine and Glenn Kelly. Created just in
time for the 2009 - 2010 school year, the Kelly Scholarship will
support a cohort of sixth grade students from several Big Shoulders
Fund schools. This scholarship will follow the students through
elementary school and prepare them for success in high school, college,
and beyond. In addition, the Kelly's plan to add a new group of
scholars in the 2010-2011 school year. Their hands-on model of getting
to know and mentor each of their scholars will enable them to give
concrete advice and direction to their maturing scholars.
September Fundraising Report
I
have included below a link to our most recent fundraising and activity
report. As you will see, we are tracking quite well and have strong
results from the first couple months of our fiscal year. It remains a
challenging market, however, so your continued support, encouragement
