Big Shoulders Fund and the Auxiliary Board Host the Third Annual Big Shoulders Fund Ball
WHAT:
The Big Shoulders Fund Auxiliary Board will host the 3rd Annual Big
Shoulders Fund Ball on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Museum of
Contemporary Art from 7:30 p.m. till 11:00 p.m. The event hosts many of
Chicago’s leading professionals who have come together to raise funds
for the Big Shoulders Fund Auxiliary Board Scholarship, which provides
inner-city children to have access to a quality, values-based education
in a safe environment at a Catholic school. Many Chicago companies
including Robert W. Baird & Co. and Figgy Media are supporting
these young professionals in their quest to raise funds for
scholarships at this year’s event.
The
Auxiliary Board was founded in 2007 and is comprised of young
philanthropic professionals who support the mission of Big Shoulders
not only through fundraising, but through outreach to the community and
volunteering in the schools as tutors, mentors and school board
members. Since its founding, the Auxiliary Board has reached over 900
young professionals, has raised over $65,000 and boasts a 120 member
board.
The Big Shoulders Fund provides $10
to $12 million each year to support 93 inner-city Catholic schools.
These elementary and high schools provide an essential educational
option to the neediest communities in Chicago. 100% of funds raised by
the Big Shoulders Fund support scholarships, special education
programs, instructional equipment, much-needed facility improvements,
faculty support and operating grants.
